Is it possible to rebuild the next music history timeline? In this workshop, the discussion will be had on what led and defined the sonic characteristics of what is considered musical vanguard and what can led the writing of the 21st century in music.


What is musically modern? Why is it considered modern? And who considers it modern? A selection of 20th and 21st century recordings from a series of South American composers and other forms of South American music will be presented, heard and discussed. Who's writing the 21st century?

Marcioz is a Brazilian artist and composer born in Curitiba, Paraná. Since 2015, he has released different music projects through labels such as Record Record (Paris), bitbird (Den Haag) and Nurtured Ideas (NY). His projects range from different sounds in South American experimental music, to more melodic-musical practices in European concert music and pop music. Through his mini label ‘jovemdeu$’, socio-racial processes of Afro-European, mulatagem and mestiçagem in Brazil, as well as (de) colonization, are sonically found in his work. Now residing in Berlin, Marcioz took part in residency programs as Goethe Talents (Berlin) and OneBeat (NY), organized by Found Sound Nation.
